During the Rotatris downtime I’m looking into procedural generation of worlds, which may or may not be used in a sequal to RKLMI. Currently I’m working on the coastline of an island world. In the video below you can see a Voronoi diagram with blue bordering cells, red undetermined water cells and green land cells. Using a floodfill algorithm I determine all non land cells of a voronoi diagrom (the random shapes) that are connected to the border which. Where these ocean cells connect to the land cells a coastline (yellow) should be drawn. Currently all the non determined cells are ocean cells, but this algorithm could be used to distinguish between oceans and lakes (water bordered by land cells).
